TMMP:
Tropical Marine Mollusc Programme Network:

(Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) sponsored organization )
This is a Danish program of research on molluscan resources in the Indo-Pacific. Biologists from India, Indonesia, Thailand and others are members of this and target species have been Chicoreus ramosus and many other important species.
The aim of the TMMP is to build strong foundations (scientific infrastructure) in member countries through enhancement of research capacity. Implementation involves yearly meetings bringing people together for the purpose of exchange of research findings and subsequent publication in English. The issue of biodiversity becomes increasingly important concurrently with the growth of human populations and the increasing demand for natural resources. Obviously, harvesting from the sea must be carried out in a sustainable fashion if it is not to result in the destruction of the resource itself. But what is sustainable?
