Oreo's Story

This is "Oreo's" original home. A rock slide on Mount Pedley, British Columbia. Altitude approximately 5,200 feet. It was a very rainy, foggy day.

Oreo has some sort of a mite living with him. I was finally able to get a picture of this pest.  It normally hides just inside Oreo's shell.
I first noticed this bug about 3 weeks ago so it may have come in with the new moss I put into his terrarium at that time

"Oreo" likes to crawl across the moss but does not seem to sleep here. He rests mainly on his rocks. I have not observed him at his water dish, so I wonder if he/she gets all the moisture needed from the food and moss?
I gave "Oreo" a cuttlebone and he rasps at it quite frequently.
"Oreo" often walks across the glass covering his home. I wonder why?
